The Solar System


Join us on our Tour of the Solar System!


We began by looking at the orbits of the planets. We learned that it takes Jupiter 12 Earth years to orbit the Sun. That means a third grader would be about 20 or 21 years old by the time it takes Jupiter to get all the way around the sun and back to where it is today!


First we drew the orbits on the chalkboard:

Next the orbits went onto our bulletin board (using yarn):

We read the book Postcards from Pluto

We set up a library of books on the Solar System for our research.
