CITIZENSHIP MERIT BADGE:
MAKING A DIFFERENCE

What does it mean to "make a difference"?

Before we could come up with ideas about how we can make a difference in our community or in the world, we had to understand what it means to make a difference. For example:

WAYS TO "MAKE A DIFFERENCE"

Camp Linus scouts brainstormed ways to "make a difference," and this is the list we came up with:

  • Sharing Parade (holiday baskets)
  • Operation Christmas Child (shoeboxes of toys and crayons/paper, etc. for kids around the world)
  • Food Drive (cans of food)
  • Mitten Tree (socks & mittens)
  • CHOW
  • Pick up garbage on ground
  • Rake leaves for neighbors
  • Help parents
  • Help elderly people
  • Letters of encouragement (i.e. to firemen in NY City)
  • $1 for kids in Afghanistan
  • Read to younger kids
  • Plant a tree or flowers
