for ELA Standard 2: Writing for Literary Response and Expression

1. Literature Response

2. Original and Imaginative Text

   • Planning a Story (In conjunction with the Story Map)

   • Writing a Different Ending to a Story Problem (based on Tolkien's The Hobbit)

   • Class-Created Story: The Winning Run (Three types of pre-writing organizers used to demonstrate the variety of options that can be helpful for pre-writing. 4-Square is not used, but could be to help with organization.)

   • Other Story Problems (students generate their own solution and events)

   • Ideas for Characters and Settings (painting a picture with words)

   • Personal Narrative (Independently created by a Student - with no prior instruction or modeling for this use of the 4-Square)
