SCOUT OF THE WEEK

Melissa

Melissa is our Scout of the Week because she demonstrated an exceptional amount of responsibility this week – with her new glasses, her new desk, and her schoolwork.

Congratulations Melissa!
SHARING PARADE

The annual Sharing Parade at LWW is Wednesday, Dec. 12th. Third grade is responsible for collecting cans of food. At the ceremonies, Camp Linus is leading the school in the Pledge of Allegiance.

CITIZENS OF THE MONTH

Megan and Melanie

Congratulations to Megan and Melanie, our Citizens of the Month for December!

MR. CAMP, THE "HOBBIT GENIUS"

Miss Camp’s brother came up from Virginia to visit Camp Linus. He knows everything about The Hobbit & answered many questions for the scouts.

CHRISTMAS CARDS TO AFGHANISTAN

Ms. Schanz and Ms. Allio each have a son in the military who is currently serving in Afghanistan.

All of the students and staff at LWW made Christmas cards to send to these two special men.

D.A.R.E. Part 2: GOOD & BAD DRUGS

Officer Alston talked about drugs this week. Some are good and some are bad. Examples of good drugs include medicine and vitamins. However, medicine can be bad if you take it when you don’t need it, when you take too much, or when it doesn’t belong to you.
Bad drugs include nicotine and alcohol (which are legal), and cocaine and marijuana (which are illegal). Nicotine is in cigarettes, and alcohol is in beer or wine. These drugs affect the brain and can make a person want more. Our brains tell us to breathe, and tell our hearts to beat. Our brains work with chemicals, and drugs are chemicals that get in the way of our brain working as well as it can.

CAMP LINUS BLASTS OFF!

Next week Camp Linus begins its study of the solar system! Stay tuned...

CAMP LINUS: THE NEW LOOK

Many changes at Camp Linus this week…

The scouts now have their own desks! There is also a new WORD WALL up on the wall. Posted on this wall are all of the words from the High Frequency Word List that third graders are responsible for with our new spelling program.
